Fish Pepper Soup is a nutritious and spicy West African soup full of health benefits. It differentiates itself from other soups by its hotness. It is exactly what you need when you have the following problems: loss of appetite, digestion problem, cold, or cough.
Clean the fish, cut them, and wash them ready for cooking. Sprinkle them with salt and set aside
Prepare the spices ready for blending. Since Alligator pepper, Pebe, Njansa, and Selim pepper are hard to blend, boil them first in a small pot for a few minutes to soften before blending.
Blend all the spices, excerpt the ginger leaves and hot pepper
Put the fish, salt, blended spices, and tomato paste in a cooking pan and mix.
Add the oil and water (about 300 to 500ml). Let it cook at medium heat for about 10 minutes. Then taste the soup, add more salt if necessary.
Add the ginger leaves and hot pepper. Let the soup cook for another 10 minutes.
The soup is ready. It can be served with plantain, yam, or another side dish of your choice. Enjoy!
