Sanga (Cassava leaves with fresh corn)

Sanga is a meal that originated from the south and central of Cameroon. It can be eaten as breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on you. This meal is rich in nutrients and vitamins.

Sanga is very simple and easy to cook. You just need a few ingredients: fresh corn (you can get it from your local market or supermarket), cassava leaves (also called Nkwem, Pondu, Saka saka), juice of palm nuts (you can get it from Afro shop), hiomi spice, water, and sugar (optional).

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 kg fresh corn
  • 1 kg cassava leaves
  • 500 g Palm soup base
  • 1 tsp Hiomi spice
  • 1 hot pepper optional
  • sugar optional
  • 2 l water

Instructions
 

  • Put all the ingredients in the pot and let it cook on medium heat for at least 1 hour. Remember to stir regularly to avoid burning. Add more water if needed
  • Serve with sugar if you want. Enjoy!
